Dynamometer Appointment Scheduled

I have a pull-test (not a tuning session) scheduled for the 82 KZ1100 first-thing next week at Fox Powersports, located in Wyoming, Michigan.


Thoughts or suggestions?

New plugs ( gapped )
Make sure tires are good or they may not want to run it.
No Chain so no worries there.
Generally go over bike so it goes well

Check...:)

Other than regular gas, the spark plugs turn black with carbon.
Regarding the exhaust, would the Competition baffle let a few more stallions out?

If plugs turn black fast motor is to fat (rich )
Comp baffle should add minor amount of power but their are NO absolutes in what will happen .
That is why folks use dynos , To separate the claims from reality

I'll leave well-enough alone for now, and stick-it with the Street baffle. There are no decel pops or pre-ignition pings that I detect. She feels strong, and idle is settled and quiet...completely loving the carb setup.

No-sense fixing a problem that doesn't exist, only to make one that can't be.

Sounds like fun... have always though I would do it someday.... how many pulls...if 3 maybe you could do 2 with the street baffle and 1 with the comp to see if it adds a HP ??

Are they gonna read your air/fuel mixture too ? I found a place around my area that will do a basic pull and give me a reading on the air/fuel to give me a idea where my jetting is. 50 bucks..... or another for 95 for 3 pulls. Am looking forward to hearing what they tell you.

700cc Wiseco kit 10 to 1.
1980 KZ750 cam, ape springs, stock clutch/ Barnett springs.
Vance and Hines Header w/ comp baffle and Ape pods, Dyna S and green coils, copper wires.
29MM smooth bores W/ 17.5 pilots, 0-6s and 117.5 main
16/42 gearing X ring chain and alum rear JT sprocket.

I believe it will cost $50 for three pulls. If I had $350 to blow out the baffle, I'd have her dyno-tuned.

Considering the performance mods I've made to this engine (much with KZR Forum guidance), would anyone venture to guess what the HP result could be?

Cool lets make it a contest...... could be a mile off but I say 105.5 HP and am hoping for more.

Go with the comp baffle! Just to enjoy the sound! Nothing like those old 1 of a kind sounds of a Z1-KZ engine with an open pipe.
