BMW,originally a consortium of about 4-5 companies, started out building Aircraft Engines about 100 yrs ago.(their logo is a representation of a spinning 2 blade propeller),
Then sub contract built motorcycle engines for other companies.
After acquiring/merging with some of it's customers it had it's logo on the bikes themselves.
They didn't start building cars until 1929
