Holy sh...., man that looks awesome, I don't know if I would do ceramic coating on the exhaust, but like I said it is AWESOME!
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Thanks to everyone for all the nice comments. Can't wait to get this thing out on the road. Got me some ring seating to do!
Dropped off the exhaust for coating today. Black is $260 and silver $330. What I'd really like is chrome, but that's not an option so choose black. The pipes look decent in the photos but trust me, they are rust speckled all over with some heavy pitting in localized spots. Turnaround time is 2 weeks so I've got some time to clean up some niggly details. One of the carb floats sticks so need to tend to that and need to get the zinc plating pot fired up to deal with a few dingy fasteners. Good fun!

Do they strip the chrome before ceramic coating? I've been toying with the idea of getting the header pipes of my 4-1 done in black having seen a really cool looking "two tone" Kerker on a KZ1000, front down pipes black with chrome muffler.
Are you going with a flat, satin or gloss black?

They sandblast the chrome to rough it up then coat right on top. The sample part in the showroom was sort of a satin black. Looked good.

That sounds nice, I'll look forward to you posting the results. This was the look that caught my eye on eBay, as the PO had only recently fitted a new exhaust on mine, it would be nice to find a deal on some less pristine front pipes and get those coated, keeping the existing front ones, just in case I find I've changed my mind.

Ed,
Nice work, please post photos of this when you get your exhaust system back! I like how cleanly the mods (the bars, brakelines and fasteners) blend in. Not many bikes deserve a pair of $100 mirrors, but that one sure does!
