I've been surfing around KZr a little bit and I noticed there wasn't a place where the members had just posted their little nuggets of knowledge. At least that I have found so far.

I had an old truck that I was fixing up. The forum I went to that was very helpful had a thread that went on for pages and was active for years. It had info that no one would ever have found out if someone well versed hadn't have mentioned it. If there isn't a thread on here that's like this lets start one.

I'll get the ball rolling, If it isn't a super hot tip, trick or secret just keep in mind I've only owned a KZ or a few weeks and have just started to scratch the surface.

The '82 GPz750/KZ750R Dual Shock has a British cousin that was built for many more years called the GT750/Z750P shaft drive. The parts might not be identical but they seem to be interchangeable where others are not. I have an instrument cluster coming across the pond as I type these words, its in MPH even. I know the seat pans are interchangeable but the size and exchange rate makes shipping them cost prohibitive, or maybe not, since everyone over here knows how rare GPz750 dual shock parts are.

There's my nugget. Let's see some more.

Ah,,, I just noticed you are newly signed in a week ago.....
I've been a member since July of 2005 and only recently become seriously active.... others have been here much longer then that and probably have forgotten more about KZ bikes then I still can remember.

There being so much great info is the reason for the thread, rather than searching for hours and days for the little tidbit of info that solves that little, or big, headache on your bike this thread could be the first stop.

Posting a question would be OK here too. So long as it could be covered with a quick answer, perhaps with links to threads with more detailed information.

You may want to become familiar with using this site's search engine. I have found it very effective at finding information about the bikes. Ed

Welcome to the site GPzMOD750. I know it can be frustrating at first. I'm sure once you become familiar you will find things much easier. I can tell you I belong to other sites and the are not even close to being categorized as nicely. Having said that here are couple things that may help.

The search box is a great tool (access it through the top menu under the "FORUM" tab). But I have always found way more useful to use Google to search KZrider. So for example, if I wanted to look up how to convert my turn signals to LED I would use the following search on google: "KZrider led turn signals"
I get the following first search returned:

www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-ins...der+LED+turn+signals

Secondly, we are currently in the process of returning the KZR filebase system for our members. The site had a hack problem in the Spring and the filebase has been down since then. Once it's up and running again, I think you will find a lot of useful information. Best of luck.

Here's a tip.

When you are taking apart your front forks there is a special tool that has a 19 mm end on it to hold the dampener while you undo the screw on the bottom of the outer tube, I went and found a bolt with a 19 mm head, in this case it was a M12 x 1.50 and 2 nuts to fit it. I put the nuts on it and jammed them together making sure they weren't quite lined up I then used a long socket extension with a 19mm socket on it to hold it in place while I undid the socket screw from the bottom.

That's called a jam nut tool. I did the same thing to my 350 Honda to remove the head without having to pull the engine. Two nuts jammed together then undid the cylinder head studs with a wrench. That was in 71.

I use a left-hand-threaded 1/2" bolt w a couple of nuts & socket extensions. FYI. not all fork use the same tool.

That's pretty much what i did but just used a standard metric bolt and nuts. Of course, not all bolts of the same thread have the same sized head.
