Hello, mik3mac, and WELCOME to KZr!

That's the tach drive unit.
A tach cable is supposed to fit between the drive and the tachometer.
The drive isn't supposed to leak any oil, even without the cable attached.
Any leaking is usually readily and inexpensively repairable by replacing the inner seal and the rubber o'ring outer seal. When ready to do this work, we can talk you through it. And there are also helpful earlier threads in KZr forum.
As a temporary leak preventive, some owners opt to seal the connection where the tach cable screws onto the tach drive, so that oil leaking from the drive past the inner drive seal collects inside the cable.
Good Fortune!

As stated, the tach cable goes there (see pic, although mine looks slightly different because it's a KZ650). The leak is VERY common and very easy and cheap to repair - the seal & gasket are readily available. Ask if you need help finding. Ed

That screw holding the little plate on the head can be VERY stubborn to remove! Do yourself a big favor and soak it with Kroil (see link below) while you are awaiting parts and it will come out easier. Also, it is not a Phillips screw even though it looks like one. If you haven't already read it, take a look at the info on JIS screws in the link below. It can save you LOTS of grief. Ed
