If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

I'm interested in knowing the ballpark price too. Also - can you share approximately what you paid to get the paint set repainted?

paintworkz.com
will answer your paint cost questions. I am also curious about the ball park total cost.

Thank you for all the compliments. In Person the bike is stunning and correct and it runs perfect. There is no comparison to Paintworkz paint job and repo tank set. The paint is beautiful. I think Ralph wants $2000 now using your own body set. I bought this complete set painted form Ralph. And special thanks to Jeff and the gang at Z1 enterprise. You guys are the best!!!!
Cost off the top of my head
Bike with shipping from Colorado $3100
repo pipes $1300
Complete body set 73 tank
repo side and tail from Paintworkz $1800
Doner 74 z1 engine and complete
complete engine rebuild using
original cases $1000
Gauges and handswitch retso $ 350
Tires $ 200
NOS petro cap and emblems $ 200
NOS chrome fenders free
relaced wheels SS spokes rear rim
rechromed free
seat cover and upholsterer $120
replate all hardware $ 65
Chain and sprocket $120
new throttle and clutch cable $ 85
Aluminum polishing $250
The chain oiler set up was mine
I have several $ 0
Beer and cigs $500
other small chit caliper M/C
rebuilt kits plugs , oil filter
fork oil/seals tapered bearings
etc. $500
Estimated total $9590.00
Realistically theres a lot of little chit
I'd say $11K invested

Nice work, I bet being up close , she looks like the day it came out of the showroom.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.
