Awesome score! I just picked up a "barn fresh" 1980 MKII yesterday myself. We've got some work ahead of us but it will be worth it.

Oooohhhhhh a MK11, I'd love to add one to the collection. Funny but up here the MK11 is far rarer than a Z1R. I know where 3 Z1R's are within 15 minutes of my house, but have only seen 1 MK11 at a vintage bike show last year...and thats the first and only MK11 I've ever seen in person.

Was a MK11 for sale in Toronto, I seen the add early this spring, but thats IT.

Oh and one other thing on this Z1R, it has a kickstart on it, I did a double take as it has no swivel/knuckle...its SOLID and does not fold. Figured it wasnt original and someone just threw it on there. Turns out it came stock with the bike, in the tool kit as Kawi figured the kicker wasnt required anymore. Odd.

Yea that's how the kickstarter was. Most lost by now. The pipes on the 80 Z1R was 4 into 2 similar to the other KZ1000 models. The 80 Z1R was a nice motorcycle as they went back to fitting a centerstand, using 19" front wheel, and it had a bigger gas tank than the 78 plus the black was 10x better looking than that 78 color. i missed out on two of them, one for $250 basket case, and one with 7000 miles for $700 but was repainted which repels me big time. These were old day prices 20 years ago.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

For all I have invested I'll likely hide it away for a bit till I can do another project.

Vision is, vintage superbike with Morris mags, laid down shocks, kick ass Kerker etc. Budget likely holds powder coating stock wheels gold, and finding a Kerker muffler to graft onto the V&H header lol.

OK, I can't figure this out. Since the site changed I can't save photos. How do I save that beautiful Z1-R? (drooling smiley)

two things....the bike is also in one of the brit classic..vintage...mags at the book stores...months back...and the pic needs to be clicked and dragged to the main address bar above the screen...it then will new screen just the pic and let your programs work it....at that new screen

the bike is set up high and funny and imho the way he has the axle lined up with the rake and neck and pivot is like a big spring board...i bet that thing is quiet a bit of work to even ride,,,imho
