Was standing out in the driveway the other day having a smoke. Guy on a sportster comes around the corner, sees me standing there, then guns the throttle. I heard the engine starving for fuel as he went by. He almost high-sided it as the engine died, and the rear wheel locked up while he was attempting to turn out of the neighborhood. So my question is...was it rude for me to laugh at the harley that blew by me that day? LOL!

I was talking to an old guy at work the other day and he and 3 of his buddies that own trikes just took a 5 week trip from florida to california and back. 3 of them were on Goldwings and 1 was on a new Harley Tri-Glide. In 5 weeks they had to take the Harley in for repair 6 times. When they made it back to Florida they guy promptly traded it for a Honda....lol. The funny thing is that one of the old guys had 175K miles on his Goldwing and made the trip with no problem. Around here there's a lot of attitude from the HD crowd but I just let them act like idiots. It's funny because my Girlfriend won't ride and hates the whole biker attitude. One day during bike week she was ranting about a group of bikers that were taking up both lanes of US1 going 15 mph under the speed limit and I told her that I was a biker and she informed me that I wasn't a biker I was a motorcyclist. I simply ride because I like to ride and not like an idiot because it might make me look cool.

Just flash your hi beams and pass like you would any slow car. People do it to me all the time when I'm on my Harley. I'll move over when I see them coming and let them go, at my age I'm just enjoying the scenery. If I want a thrill ride, I take a Viagra, not the 'Glide.
I'm pretty considerate so having a loud aftermarket exhaust, I always try to keep the revs down when passing bicyclists, horses, joggers, other Harley riders, etc. Nothing ruder than imploding someone's eardrums with your chromed cans of sound.
Of course there are exceptions, the other day I was riding the 'Glide and this guy on a red and white snow blower blew past me, made me spill my coffee.

The nice thing about riding a vintage bike is that "keeping up with the Joneses," is no longer an issue, since most of them have already passed away or retired to Florida.
