17 cents/can gasket remover

Is anything going on with gasket remover?
I had hard time removing 35 years old air compressor gaskets. So I went to 5-6 auto parts stores to get a can of gasket remover around here with no luck. They all said " we used to have it but I don't see it".
Thinking as the last stop, went to O'Reilly. They had 2 cans in the back and was listed as clearance in their system for 17 cents a can. Got 2 for 34 cents.
Just wondering why they all didn't have any more or had in clearance.

It's probably related to the chemicals in the can. Some products just can't be had anymore.

Many of the products frequently used in the past incident to mechanical work have been found to be toxic in various degrees. Whether through the skin, or inhaled vapors, etc. :(

For example, was common in earlier days to use gasoline in a metal bucket for cleaning motor parts.

Today we are supposed to immediately wash any gasoline from our skin, don't inhale gasoline vapor, and Heaven Forbid sucking a mouthful to start a siphon from gas tank. :pinch:

Careful ya don't get one of the dreaded 4 hour stiffies.
