Cops Texting While Driving (News Story)

Thought this was interesting. I would have assumed those police systems would have lockouts built-in.

There is at least one thing worse. Around here those guys driving Liquid Propane trucks are doing it. It reminds me of Slim Pickins riding that ICBM (missile) in Dr. Strangelove.

If you use your phone for business you can still do it in Oregon. The law also exempts Police. Most departments have a internal policy that covers them. Texting is pretty tough while driving talking is not, I have a Blue tooth ear piece so its a mute point for me. You may have read they were trying to outlaw the use of CB's while driving. They gave up on that because all Drivers use the CB to get directions and stuff so therefore its business. Its always going to be about the $$ bottom line.

When I was younger I got picked up by a cop for being out past curfew (my ex's mom through me out of their house and broke my bike thus making me walk 12 miles home). Cop was texting while driving with me in the front seat. Was drifting in and out of the lane. I asked him if he wanted me to drive. That did not go over well.

Last time I was in chicago I caught the UPS man texting and driving (reported) and an ambulance driver (reported)

Personally back before touchscreens and full keyboards I used to text with my phone in my pocket at work, I'm certain if we still only had the numpad for texting it would be so much easier to do it and drive

I have seen cops on what appear to be their personal cell phones on while driving several times. Unless the department is giving them I-phones i guess.

Per FCC it is agaist the law to jam a cell phone. Tx.
has been trying to do it for year's to deal with
