Really horns are of little value except if some slow speed thing like a Walmart parking lot and someone is backing out and doesn't see you. They actually are a nuisance and I'd rather they were not available to people most the time. A horn to me is the same as flipping someone off most the time. I read the various newsgroups and see the guys that say "I was riding and saw a car that was not going to stop for a stop sign as I was approaching an intersection. I laid on the horn, but they still did not stop and we had the big TBONE." Well you waste time fumbling with your thumb instead of using evasive action? idiot. Sorry, but ride to stay alive, don't use your thumb.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Ron, I agree with you, but I think the "horn" in taildraggers link might prove to be the exception to the rule. Considering that it's 12 feet long, 6 feet tall, and weighs in at nearly 3 tons even if the other driver didn't hear it or see it the sheer mass of the thing might offer some protection if you could somehow place it between the bike and the oncoming car.

You can get the same horn at your local Harbor Freight, where it is called a Wolo Bad Boy. The horn does need a full 12V to function properly. Depending on how your bike's OEM setup is, you may need to run a separate power circuit instead of just "plug-and-play." Try the horn out connected to the exisitng horn power wires and then directly to the battery. If there is a difference, then you need to run a separate 12V circuit and use a horn relay.
The horn relays included with these horns are crap. They are known to fail quite easily, and in the ON position at that. If you have to use the relay, go to Radio Shack and pick up a heavy duty automotive horn relay, they are about 3 bucks or so, IIRC.
For the money involved, these WOLOs are well worth it. Especially the first time some brain dead cellphone texting idiot tries to occupy the same space as you are on a freeway.
