crashed
05 Oct 2010 09:18
Well I managed to crash on sat.
The temp was about 12* c (53*f) so the track and tires were cold. I ran the first 15 min session slow and had no trouble. The second session was a little faster; some guys were passing me so I decided to step it up. I went faster on a straight, and then I had to brake hard. That’s when I lost the front end. The tire squirted out from under me like I was on ice. I did a header over the bike and proceeded to tumble head over heals, following the bike down the track. All I remember is the feeling as each part of me took a turn smacking the pavement. First my head then shoulder, ribs, knee, boots. Then around we go again.
When I stopped rolling, I looked down the track to see if anyone was coming at me. Luckily no one was, as I could not get up. After collecting myself for a sec, I managed to crawl off the track. Then they sent the ambulance over.
Lucky for me I only broke my wrist. I am waiting for an appointment to see a specialist. The CT scan revealed an unusual brake, so the dr. wants to pass the surgery off to someone more qualified. So I should get a call soon..
Man it’s a lot harder typing with only 1 finger. Lol

Relatively speaking then, all is ok, more or less
The times I have crashed, I worried more about the bike than anything.

Sorry to hear about the spill. Had one two years ago in December and broke my right wrist. One titanium "T" plate and 11 screws got it back together and now its fine. I did have to learn to wipe my arse with my other hand though (not fun). Get better and hang in there, Tom
