Hi Tony,

Is the steering quick?

It's certainly a different riding position than I'm used to but it just different, and not in a bad way. The steering feels quick and responsive. So far no complaints. And, I got 63 miles to the (imp)gallon, so it will pay for itself in no time at all. :woohoo:

they set the bar and were often used as a measuring stick against whether the newer R1's were better or not...2001 was one of the best yrs and they are a deal right now...not like the rc-51 which folks think are worth 5-8 grand...how much 3000??????
i like that one and the 1998 ,first ones, alot

I paid more than 3000 for it, but bikes seem to be more expensive in Canada for some reason. At least in my area. I probably could of found a better deal if I really looked but it was local.
It has a tag on it that says limited edition, number 179 of 1000. I didn't notice that til after I bought it.

You aren't kidding about those RC-51's. Every time I find one that looks like a good deal, it's crashed. I just don't see $6000 for a 9 yr old bike.
Tony I love your R-1. It's awesome that you got an LE and didn't know about it. The ergos on my zx-10r don't bother me. I put 900 miles on it in one weekend. The thing that bothered me the most was my ears, from my helmet.

From the rags I've read the Yamy's were the good handling ones. Congrats on the new bike.
