using car baffles in bike?

I need a baffle for my kerker, it's too damn loud. The endcap I have on there is from a 1.5 inch baffle. I have a buddy with an old muffler from a 96 honda accord 4 cylinder that I was thinking of opening up and stealing a baffle. Anybody done this before? If this doesn't work, what is an affordable way of finding suitable pipes to drill holes into and making a baffle? can you wrap the baffle with the pink insulation, or is there a more suitable fiberglass insulation?

Thanks

Why don't you just wrap your baffle. I used to do that about once a season on my old Kerker.

I don't have a baffle in there...it's just an empty megaphone with an endcap.

yeah, but they cost too much, somebody posted a MAC baffle for kerker megaphones that I tried to get but never got a reply so I want to build one but don't have a clue where to find 1.5 inch steel pipe to make the baffle from.

If you think that you can build one for under $35, you are amazing. You can buy them right from MAC or I think Jeff can get it for you.

I tried them already, no response, and not to mention that after shipping to Canada that would be expensive for a piece of pipe with some holes...

If you have an end cap, you're half way there. I took my Denco header end cap to an exhaust shop and had them weld on a length of perforated tube for a baffle. You may not get it from a chain shop but one that does custom work will be able to help you.

shipping would be about $30. I talk to someone every time I call MAC. They are very easy people to deal with. They even put together a custom system for me for about the same money as a stock one costs.

I never thought of that Jack...my car mechanic shop does all sorts of custom car exhausts. How long of a tube did you have welded on, 8" ? I want to have a good rumble at idle, and I love the sound at full throttle, just want to make it not so ear shattering and heat-score.

I just got off the phone with MAC. They used to make ALL THREE of the Yoshimura pipes. Series I, II, III. They are now just coming out with a New competition pipe which is going to be like the Yoshimura series III. They will be about the only US company making 4-1 exhausts for our bikes in the US. All others are discontinuing the vintage bike lines. I asked him about the Yoshimura series I pipe and if he could reproduce it. He stated it was designed strictly for drag racing and the Daytona record runs back in 1973. The MAC megaphone pipe will be the option for the now discontinued Kerker. The postage to Canada for the Baffle would be $39 priority mail because it is over 4#.
