A Thing of Beauty
03 Dec 2009 15:45
Found this bike whilst poking around the internet.Maybe it's just me, but I think I'm in love. . .

All of the stuff those guys do is pretty great, but something about that one just speaks to me

Yeah they do some great stuff. I really like the monkee #8 until the guy who bought it started to put stickers on it. He put a michelin man sticker on his dunlop shodded bike.

Yeah both of those 1000's they built were sick. They were definitely inspiration for me. Cafe fighters if you will. Or vintage fighters. Another cool spot for some old school homemade projects is
www.vintagefighters.yuku.com/
they have some cool bikes there. But yeah those Danish guys build some cool stuff.

Yeah that is a bit pricey but if I had 37000 to spend on a bike I probably wouldn't spend it on a harley. Granted if i had 37 grand to spend on a bike I probably would have everything else in the world so why not.

As for the prices I agree it sounds a bit steep but you have to realize that vehicles are insanely expensive over here in Denmark. A 2009 Z1000 will set you back just about $40,000 and you'd have a hard time finding a new Harley for less than 70 grand.

I outright government sponsored theft. I know that you people get paid more than we do but I am not sure if it is that much more.

Well, to give you an idea I made around $55,000 last year of which I paid some $19,000 in income tax - then there's the 25% sales tax (VAT) on everything I buy with what's left (rent excluded though).
There are upsides too like free school, free medical care and so on but still..

I don't know if I just don't get it, but after looking at some of their bikes I find they look kind of ratty...the GPz one has rust on the gas tank, the KZ1000J one has a dent in the top of the tank...

That`s the idea. Its a retro look. Back then it was done for a reason, to make it lighter, faster and done as inexpensive as possible. Now it is just a fashion statement. I really like it. I like the Wrench Monkees #8 bike execpt for the Ducati forks and fender. I was thinking about getting that fairing and making a seat cowl similar to that one.
