Yeah the ZX14 suprised me because the bike didn't turn that many RPM , it was so wierd. The front end would be coming up and you didn't relize it until it was way up. That bike would hit 150 like NOW.
I don't like the vance and hines pipe. I am going to have to customize it also. I put a Kerker tip and baffle and that sounded better.

looks like a 78 a2 to me,that would explain the petcock also;)I think the engine is close to or stock. I just pulled the carbs and they are 28 pumpers. The jets are 17.5 and 117.5. K+N pods that look like they need replacing.
I need to check the timing and the coil voltage.
I thought the gas tank was a big KZ900 tank but it has the petcock that is held in with two screws and has a vacum line to activate the fuel flow.
I need to dig out a regulator and install signals on the bike. Also there is no licence plate bracket.
I'll take $2000.00

It is a 1977 B1 LTD. I have the original gas tank and a few spare parts. I thought the bike was a 1977 A1 that someone wanted to turn into a LTD.

I got the engine assembled today. I had the cams out. They were 180 deg. out. I pulled the oil pan and the screen for the oil pump was clogged with silicone. Not any metal in the pan to speak of.
I used assembly lube on the cam and bearings and i'm glad i did. Was a bit noisy before the oil got to the top. Maybe i need to replace th oil pump.
Being a old drag bike i think i need to replace the clutch basket also. There is a whole lot of shaking going on when the cluth engages.
I have three sets of carbs to go through to decide which ones i want to use. Two sets of 28's and on set of 26's. I'll probably go with the 26's if they check out alright.
It was a nice day for a ride. I just had on a levi jacket and long sleeve "T" shirt. I hope the weather is nice again tomorrow. Come on spring. Roy

I got to work on the bike for six hours today. I went through the carbs and decided on the 28's with the pump removed and 26 float bowls.
The jets were three sizes too small on the idle and eight sizes on the mains. I ended up with 20/120.
The licence plate was zip tied to the shock so i made a bracket that would bolt to the chain guard mount. I will later move it back under the duck tail.
I mounted the D+D carbon canister so i can ride tomorrow.
The bike goes like a streak but the clutch is got to be changed out before summer. I found another clutch basket but i will have to dig out my other clutch parts.
It is suppose to be in the 50's tomorrow and i want to ride.

How decent is the pipe, Roy? I may be interested if you want to get rid of it. I need one for my 900 Stripfighter.

If you are talking about the V+H that went with the header i will check it out real close and buff it and see what it looks like. I really never paid any attention because i never considered using it.
I am going to put a 1075 engine on the bike. I have one that dowsn't need anything. That way i can wrench at leasure. Roy

I think I'm confused.:S Are you using the V&H header with a D&D canister? If so, never mind on my offer as I need a full system not just the megaphone.

Ok this bike is back on the front burner since the LtD is gone. I got it up on my new lift and pulled the cam covers off and six valves had no clearance.
This is the engine i installed two days before Ohio and haven't rode it.
I got out my dial caliper and the battery was dead so i get to start in the morning again.
The lift is super nice. I got the one on display and didn't have to assemble. Roy
