While out and about
08 Oct 2007 04:50
I took the family on a little vacation this weekend. We rode a train and checked out Lincolns home place. Also went to visit Pattons museum at Fort Knox,Ky.
My best "stop" was a salvage yard for bikes. we don't have any as nice as this one near my home. I would have spent the day if i could have.Roy

Too bad they don't sell on the net. A friend of my dads owns a slavage shop in Spokane WA and stopped opening the front doors years ago. He sells only on the net and makes a ton of money and only works a couple of hours a day. BASTARD!

Why don't you post a link to your dads friend's web site or eBay sales, give him a little plug so to speak;)

I thought i would just add to this post instead of starting another.
I had to go out of town yesterday and i stopped in Paducah,KY. on the way back to see Mr. Earl.
Mr. earl has been around a long time. In the late 70's and early 80's he was the owner of a Yamaha dealership. After his kids grew up he ran a independent shop. He bought junk bikes and worked on bikes. He can repair cables too. Which is handy when you need one NOW.
His health is fading and he is taking it easy. I use to have to wade through the piles of junk bikes looking for parts but he is even cleaning up his junk yard. This place would have been a eBayers dream.
It's sad to think this place will be closed down one day.
A couple of pics. Roy

Outside of Patton's Museum....

Sounds like a fun trip Roy. I've gone to a few Steam-Ups. Just great to behold some of the craftsmanship and some behemoth machines.

I was out visiting friends and i thought some of you might enjoy thier hobby.
I took pics of jamie with a 30 cal. mounted on a jeep.
My friend replaced it with a 50 cal. and moved the 30 cal. mount to the passenger seat.
I have know this family several years and they are great folks.
Check out what Leena is holding in her hand!
Jamie likes to visit here. He just takes too many pictures.
He likes the mule.
Does anyone know anything about the French 17th.Battilion
2nd. light infantry motorized dividion.
My friend has a jeep that has french markings and it could have possibly been used by American Foward air controllers attached to french forces in WWII.
Note the domino markings.
