Why are people so worried about what genre a bike is? Just build to what suits the bike. And stay away from stupid tire trends.

Yeah, I think that's really what i'm after. I LIKE the look of all-engine coming at you.

Agreed. This is exactly how I feel about it, too. And I'm not a huge fan of the car-tire look that I've seen on some of the muscle/steroid cafe bikes, either.

Well, I worked out a deal on the 79 KZ1000 LTD from my co-worker/carpooling buddy. It pretty much needs everything....carb rebuild, battery, tires, etc. This is fine....I'm going to completely disassemble the entire thing anyway. Looking into swingarm and fork options.....just learning, and there's a LOT to learn. I'm fascinated by the Motogadget M-unit stuff; I really like that idea. It's $$$, but looks very cool and clean. Here's what I'm starting with.....less than 19k miles, too.

I think you can make almost anything you want out of that. You may want to peruse some of the incredible builds on this site for some inspiration.

Will do, GPzGuy. Thanks. I'm not super familiar with the site yet, but I'll be doing some homework here, for sure.

Looks like a good starting point. I would make sure the engine runs well before you dive into the other stuff, unless you are planning on rebuilding regardless.

Gotta say this, I'd clean it up, get it running well then decide if you want to make changes that can't be reversed. Looks like a solid survivor to me and worth some real money.
