you gotta get the foam looking exactly like you want the finished seat to look .
the upholsterer can only do so much, and who knows if he has the same vision as you do for the finished product.
so the closer you can get the shape to the finished result that you invision the happier you will be.
my critique would be,
that i don't like the ninety degree bumstop and i don't like the flat top rear.strictly personal opinion and that you like the finished result is truly all that matters.

The more that I look at it the more I really don't like it! I think I may just start all over tonight.
By the 90 degree bump stop are you talking about where the tank meets the seat?

upon further review i see you have it leaned back.i had thought it was more straight up and down.
i think one more layer on what you have in the seat area and then let it run up on the tank some and sculpt the seat area more.maybe one more layer on the rear hump may have to wrap the edges to get enough material to blend the side into a smooth curved transition across the top.

Yeah what you described is what I think i should do also.
I think I need to make the seating area shorter because when I did have the hump rounded it looked to short and not enough angle on the back

Well... Not much of an update like I was hoping to have today!
To start off I got my bearings for the stearing stem in a few days ago and while trying to drive the lower on I ended up breaking the cage and it broke into a million pieces. So I ordered another set and got them yesterday. Today I take it to work and pressed it on the correct way which worked perfectly, I also drilled out the hole on the upper gsxr clamp so the kz stem would go thru it. So I came home thinking I'd be able to get it all together. Get the new races into the stearing tube mounted it all up slide the right fork in and it goes just fine, try to do the left and it's about a quarter of an inch from sliding into the top clamp. Great! I must have a bent lower triple!!
I also had a bunch of parts come in yesterday and today. I got my oem gsxr clip ons, throttle tube w/ cables, and the controls for the lights and kill switch.
I was talking to my buddy who usually has great advice and he said the 6 pot calipers from a 1st gen busa was a direct swap on the 01-02 gsxr 750's so I ordered them and got them yesterday. He must have been mistaken because where they mount on the forks the spacing is off by about 3/4 of an inch. Apparently it's the k1-k2 gsxr 1000 6 pots that are a direct swap

So all in all not much progress. Sorry for the long rant!

setting the triples on something flat should reveal if they are bent or not.
did you slide the one leg in and clamp it up?then try to slide the other leg in?
if so this can cause a misalignment.

That's a great idea Leon, I will bring it up to work tomorrow and put it on the quality controls granit slab table.

Understood. I have whittled quite a bit of material out of random stuff found at my local metal supply store on my project bike for giggles. I am a cheap bastage don't ya know!

Re: New member and new project

I made the seat last week and I really just hated how the hump was in the back
So I decided to go ahead and make another seat,
Which I did and I really liked the hump but hated the seating area.
I figured we could make these work so I cut the seating area out of the first one and cut the hump off of the second and then glued them together. The seating area was to narrow for the hump so I went and got some quarter inch foam off my buddy that owns the Upholstry shop and I think it turned out much better.
I'm gonna be taking it to him to get covered this weekend
I really wish I could have made it slope in more where the hump meets the seating area but I'm not gonna mess with it, it'll do for now!
I'm gonna go enjoy this awesome riding weather we are having right now on the 1000rr
