Thanks Leon! The red frame was kind of an accident. I had asked for the tank red and the frame black but the powder coated wanted 45 dollars and 30 for the swing arm in black since it was different colors. So I went with all red to save 75 bucks. Since the tail was already black I left it. I may add a red line on the tail because it seems so black. The side panels will become a matching black soon.

love the bike and the attention to detail.
it assaults my senses  makes me feel tingly and kinda sick all at once :woohoo: !
i'm a firm believer that red frames don't belong on kz's,purely personal opinion and not one that matters for your build.
it's funny because as much as i hate the red and black i love the fact that you did it and would love to ride with you .i might good naturedly give you crap about the red frame but it's a cool bike and love the" f@ck you attitude" it gives off.
have a blast on it.thanks for postin,
leon

Steve I like the checker artwork. I remember seeing your thread, I think I favorited it. It seems red frames was a Honda thing. Didn't know. I really wanted to go green or dark purple but couldn't find a shade I liked.

Did the first oil change and checked the spark plugs. Seem pretty uniform. One seems a little rich and going to adjust the air screw for that carb. Little shaky so might do a sync again. Borrowed a friends nanometer but may make my own to check relative pressures. Had a leak from the tach drive that was pretty bad since I'm not using the stock clocks. Plugged it up with a brass pipe fitting and gasket sealer.
Anyone have tips for air screws? I have the tuning book for the rs34 carbs but doesn't go into detail on the air screws.

I use a gunson color tune for setting the air screws. no guessing. you can see the color of the combustion.

Think so Leon? Seems lean to me when riding by the exhaust noise. Plugs look about perfect but what do I know! And Patton, it was finely grated metal. No large balls. Was the first oil change so I assumed that was normal. (Says it is in the Kawasaki Factory Service Manual)

those plugs are carbon coated which probably means you are running rich. Ideal plugs should be dark brown with the middle ceramic being tan; AKA.... coffee and cream. A lean mixture will be will show on the plugs as gray with white/gray spots
