Kz400 cafe?
03 Jul 2012 11:12
Well i picked this bike up from an old buddy for $500 running and roadworthy, but a gas leaking from several places. Gave the carbs and petcock a good cleaning this stopped most of it but in the procces noticed that the seat had dented part of the gas tank and that was leaking also. Someone had sautered it once and it cracked through again. And also the clutch needs to be replaced now. I think this bike will make a nice cafe style bike. What do you guys think? Is this the original seat?

Well i still am having trouble posting Any pictures from my iphone but the project continues slowly. The electronics have been relocated to right under the seat And the battery box is gone. The next step is to hide a new battery. I think i might just hide a box in the back part of the stock seat, that is until i can figure out what i want for a seat on it. Any thoughts? I am new to this and could use some ideas. I have a little time because it still needs a clutch. But i am determined to ride it this year. ( hopefully it doesn't end up being in the snow).

Thanks for all the ideas i think i know more of what i want for this project now. Unfortunately it will have to be a winter project , its gettin' pretty cold here already. I plan to shorten the stock seat and hide a dry cell battery in it. I also found a tail piece from an old suzuki gs that i will mount small rear lights on. And still thinking about the bars.

Re: Kz400 cafe?
08 Nov 2012 06:36If not already done, could view the fuel tank parts diagram at kawasaki.com to assure various parts are in place. (See link in my signature for help with finding information on kawasaki.com.)Hottotrot wrote: The bike is a 1976 kz400 s2. Red. ( for now). Possibly the fuel tank at hand isn't the stock tank?
