I should have kept the windshield. It would help in cold weather. I did get the H4 headlight and put in my halogen in it's place before I sold it. Always wanted one and my low beam was out. I put it in the bike and the high and low worked. There's a device that runs the high beam but lowers the power to it. Safety measure. I planned on going with a HID and got one not long later. There's plenty of H4's to choose from.

A bad RLU was my first assumption, but now that I trashed the glass fuses and it works, I'll have to try the bulb from my other bike. Took it out today for it's first long ride (about 50 miles) and it did great! The kid I got this bike from had no idea what he had. I only have about $400 in it as it sits :D . Yes, dash shows 57k miles, but it's very obvious the engine has been rebuilt recently :)

Noticed tonight that the high beam isn't working anymore either. Stuck the halogen out of my CX500 in it, and voila, both highs and lows work :) . Looks like I'm in the market for a new headlight bulb or conversion. Do they make the high output LED conversion bulbs that big? And if so, would they be worth trying?

Jon (kaw-a-holic) has a LED he loves. $130-40. I got my HID system for around $40. What I think is important is the blueish tint and brighter light. I can tell people see it by their behavior at stop signs. I still don't trust them but I feel a little safer.

When I did mine not only did I have to fix previous owners hacks but most connectors were ate up with corrosion. I took everything out in the battery box area, cleaned or replaced just about everything.

What I started with.

Finished product.

That's a whole hell of a lot cleaner than my end result is lol. I just did the quick fix and replaced the fuse block with inline fuse holders and crimp connectors...

If you are referring to bypassing the reserve lighting box you need to jump blue wire to both the blue/yellow AND the blue/orange.

Cutting out the factory fuse block and replacing the bulb got it working again luckily

So apparently I am going to have to bypass the RLU. My low beam quit again tonight with a new H4 bulb that's less than a month old  . It's either that, or pay out the rear for a new bulb every month

If it is a the reserve lighting the bulb is probably still good. Do the bypass and see if it comes back to life. I just cut the connector of the box, spliced the wires together pushed the others aside and wrapped it with silicone wrap and plugged it back in.

I put some relays in first thinking that my new switches just couldn't handle the load. The reserve system fried them. I ordered some more and I should be getting them any day. It doesn't hurt to put your lights and and horn on relays anyway to relieve load on the switches and wiring.
