Got my old Kaw up and runnin again bought it new back in 82.
I was out for a ride and realized this headlight is old. Has anyone ever done an up grade or what has been done to improve the brightness?

If it is an H4 type bulb you could try one of the new styles, such as the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs.
If you do that I suggest also installing one of the new high-heat sockets as well.

I've been using a Wagner Halogen sealed beam for years. They last a long time and are MUCH brighter that stock. Also, they draw almost the same current as the stock lamp, so they don't overload the electrical system. Below are the specs and a link to where I bought mine, although other places sell them too. Wondering if it could be at least partially a problem with the wiring? Hows the voltage across the head light connector? If you up grade to a different bulb, you still need the connections/ current to run it.

A lot of people aren't aware that an automotive bulb and lense throw a different pattern (bowtie) than a motorcycle beam. Motorcycle beams are parabolic and centered.

This is true. However, I have found in actual use, as a rider I cannot notice the difference. The SEV Marchal H4 lens I used for years was made specifically for motorcycle use. Back in the day, Cycle or Cycle World magazine performed a comparison between various motorcycle specific lenses, and the SEV Marchal scored very high. I used it and liked it, but after the mirror coating inside the lens deteriorated I installed an automotive Halogen sealed beam. Frankly, for me it works just as well as the more expensive motorcycle lens. Ed

Hey all, thanks for the ideas. I seen this one on ebay item #300691072250 and was wondering if this would work just to brighten things up a bit without breaking into any wiring anyone try one?
I can just replace the bulb don't have to do the whole housing but, I might considering the glass is the original.
