Hey guys:silly: ,
I have been reading all of your great advice on timing and knew I needed to time mine. I have dual points so I set the plate to the center and adjusted each point with it's corresponding cylinder(I think!) I can't remember which is which but I tried them both on #4 and naturally adjusted the one that changed when I moved the point. So, when I timed #4 the light flashed consistently but, when I timed #3 the advance seemed to be jumping ahead (or behind)every few strokes. Now my bike is a little less responsive under 3k but then really kicks in....I just remembered another thing. The #3 pipe has less bluing. When I bought it the guy said "probably carbs" I had the carbs done so they're good. Could this be valves? or half a coil? IDK.!!
Thanks thadleyB)

First, check to see that you have a good battery, fully charged, next check the voltage at the coils.
you really need to get a book of some type, although I think its aval here, just not sure where.

next are you replacing the points and condensers? or just trying to reset them?

also have you checked to see that the advancer is working and not stuck

you have uneven point contact surfaces.

partially burnt with a pock mark I'd bet

never leave the key switch "on" and the ignition "on" unless the engine is running

your point adjustment intervals will last so much longer
