I think I know the answer to this but, I'll give it a try here first...is there anyway to adjust the pressure switch for the brake light in the front brake line of my '80 KZ1000B4?

It will make and illuminate the light under hard braking but, with the pressure I use for ordinary stops, it doesn't operate. I hardly ever use the rear brake except for a panic stop so, I'm concerned about the failure to signal folks behind me when in traffic.

Think a new switch would cure it?

Well I hope I'm wrong.... but I don't think there is any adjustments for it. Maybe we can find a switch that runs on lower pressure?

I too have this problem on my kz650, but I always press down on the rear brake to make sure the brake light comes on.

When I first got my 650 the front switch was like that, I did a total flush of the system, took the switch off and flushed some fresh fluid through that port too and cleaned the switch itself with Brakekleen. There was a bunch of garbage that flushed out of the switch. Everything is fine now, barely have to pull the lever and the light is on.

My front switch hasn't worked in years.
I have the rear switch adjusted to come on with the slightest touch of my foot.

I like Milkmans fix above.
I will have to try that. B)

I did the flush thing awhile back but I didn't remove the switch. Guess I'll have to try that the next time I feel like getting brake fluid all over EVERYTHING. ;-)

Thanks,

You should really start using both brakes when stopping. It is easier to correct a skidding rear tire than a skidding front tire....chris3

I'm pretty sure my years of road and dirt riding experience has taught me which brake or what combination of brakes to use on whatever type of surface I happen to be on. I'm new to this forum, not new to riding.

What I am talking about in this post is, stoplight to stoplight traffic on clean dry pavement and 35mph limit.

I was having problems with my front brake switch. Found that pin coming out of switch contacts lever at an angle and had worn down pin at an angle. Rotated pin and applied a little lube and has been fine for a few years except for now so may have to replace it. I may pull it out and come up with something, I'm good at fabricating things.:)
