Hi All; A friend has this bike and the voltage at the battery measures only 13 volts at 3000 RPM. It should be 14.5. We measured the AC voltage from the stator and all three circuits read 19 to 20 VAC. This number seems really low. We did not measure resistance yet. We measured the voltage at the regulator output at 17 volts with no load. When the lead is plugged in, it drops to 13. The battery was freshly charged.
The Clymer manual says that the rotor may be demagnetized. Any ideas? Signed, clueless on electron behavior, Steve

It isn't hard to demagnetize a stator. If you hit it with a hammer (while installing) or heat it, it WILL demagnetize. 19-20 VAC on all the legs is way too low BUT did you measure the AC at idle or at 3K rpm? Try measuring at 3K rpm before running out and purchasing a new stator.
