i have a 76 kz750 i just bought it and the starter dosent work and the battery drains after about 30 min of riding. the starter isnt hooked up and wasent when i purchased it so i dont know whats wrong with it. I dont mind kick starting it for now but the battery draining keeps me from riding. any ideas on how to fix this problem i dont know anything about the charging system on this bike so any help would be great.

Would remove battery, add water if needed, charge overnight, perform specific gravity test, and have it load tested.

Also assure good solid negative battery cable connection where attaches to engine or frame.

And of course assure good clean tight cable connections to the battery terminals.

Check for good connections where wires attach to connectors.

Test charging by measuring voltage across battery terminals at idle rpm (look for 12+ volts) and at 3000 rpm (look for 14+ volts).

the battery is brand new i tested the volts and its running at 12 and 14 like you said i went out and kick started it it took quite a few kicks about 15 or 20 and the battery was down to 30 percent im wondering if maybe the battery is to small what size battery is suposed to be in this bike?
