I've been having a problem with my brake light sticking on, and I already found the culprit- the actuator is hanging up on the rear brake pedal, making the light stay on.

If it sticks, I can pull the wire a bit by hand and it will pop back in, but it keeps wanting to do it. I tried spraying some white lithium grease on it the other day but it doesn't seem to have helped very much.

What else do I need to do, or did I use the wrong lube?

The same thing happened to mine. I tried lubing it and that didn't work. So I took it apart and replaced the spring but couldn't get it to function correctly. So I ordered a new one from Z1. It only cost around $7-8.

The switch is probably too corroded internally,so do as suggested, and just order a new one from Jeff at Z1 Enterprises.B)

I'll triple the suggestion. You can lube all day and it may work, but won't last. Just replace it.

Am thinking the white lithium grease is a little too heavy. Might try squirting some WD40 into both ends of the switch while working the switch back and forth. The WD40 will help clean out the grease and other crud, and maybe help prevent the switch from sticking. :)

Use contact cleaner to spray into the switch. WD40 leaves too much residue and will gum up....chris3

Can I even get a new switch for this bike?

Z1enterprises doesn't list one for this model. Does the one that fits the KZ1000/650/550 fit this bike? Sure looks the same.

It looks pretty much just like this one:

except that mine has a right angle cap where the wires attach to it.

Pretty sure you can modify it to work,Garrett.
Chances are,it'll even work as is.
They are adjustable, and you can even use a different length spring to get it set.
I say go for it...spend some money on your ride.B)

Bikebandit lists the right one for $15. If it's still available I'd go that routt.
