I bought some white greese the other day to rebuild and lube the petcock handle and read that it should be good for battery terminals to prevent corosion.

Is this in fact true and can I add the white greese to the terminals without any worry?

dielectric grease

Dielectric grease is a NON-conducting grease that seals out moisture and therefore prevents corrosion on electrical connectors. ;)

Grease on the electrical connections causes a mess. I've had to troubleshoot many bikes where the only problem was the owner used dielectric grease on the connections.

??? How was the only problem the use of dielectric grease?
Maybe the owner was packing it in with a shovel? More is definitely not better. I was shown to use just enough to keep the connection from not corroding or building electrolysis. If you are blobing the stuff on ...well ...don't do that!

A good brand of contact cleaner/preservative (I mention it a lot) is De-oxit made by Caig Labs out of San Diego.

It removes the green crud of corrosion and preserves the electrical contact surfaces. I use it on cordless phone charging cradle contacts, cat 5 cables, and the RCA plug in connectors and sockets of my home entertainment center.

i think you can buy De-oxit at radio shack, anyway the website lists who sells it at : www.de-oxit.com
