Hi all. My 79 KZ1300 was running great. I stopped and turned it off to say hi to a friend and all of a sudden when I turn the key the main 30 amp fuse immediately burns right through. I know electrical issues are awful but does anyone have any ideas? I changed nothing and no wires seem to be burnt or touching each other. Any help is much appreciated. With gas prices now I have to have my bike running like she did yesterday. Thanks.

I'd try looking at wire connections,probably getting a little age on 'em and not making good contact,Especially the headlight it draws power as soon as the key is on,if you have a hi power 80/100 watt headlight and bad connections,it will knock it out quick,especially with the starter drawing power at the same time.Get some sandpaper and roll up little pieces to fit into the connectors and spin by hand to clean up the contact area.Spend some time and go thru the whole bikes connections and do it right.Also get some electrical spray on corrosion preventer for after theyre cleaned.Consider running headlights off of separate relays/wires,check out wiredgeorges upgrades.Also the coils upgrade is great for the older bikes.

After cleaning the connections spritz with some electrical contact cleaner(Not WD-40, Don't ask me how I know!) a good brand is www.de-oxit.com.
