My project bike is a 78 KZ750 B3 with a point and condenser ignition, I am curious as to whether there is an upgrade or conversion to an electronic type ignition. I kind of figure it would be more reliable or weather proof.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The one I am running is a capacitive discharge ignition that works with the stock points. It was built back in the 80's, not sure if they are available.

The more modern types have electronic pickups that replace the points, but I have not seen one for the old twins. You might want to check the Dyna ignitions.

I just installed a DynaS system on my 650 - along with new Dyna coils. The improvement is dramatic - easier starting, smoother idle and smoother all through the rev-range. Definately money well spent!

Dyna doesn't make an electronic ignition for the 750 twins.

My 79 KZ750B4 has electronic ignition, and I have converted a couple other 750 twins to electronic ignition in the past.

You need the electronic ignition igniter, pickup, timing advancer, and a square 4 pin plug that will fit the igniter plug, off a KZ440 to do th conversion. These parts used to be available pretty cheap on eBay until I started posting this info here :D
