So I bought a Dyna 3 Ohm coil for my KZ400 along with 7mm dynatek spark plug wires. So My question in how dO I connect the wires into the coil?? There are some fittings and pieces that came with it but I'm not sure which to use. Stupid question I know but If anyone has done this before let me know how to do it so i can get it right the first time.

The primary wire connections are the crimp-on terminal lugs which then are held to the coils teminals with screws.

Some people solder the terminals whils others use a special crimper to complete the work.

The terminal lugs look like small rings with an opening for the wires. Any way you do the terminal lugs should include lock washers as the motorcycle operating conditions have heat and vibration that will loosen screws.

The secondary connections are the sparkplug wires usually connected to cylinders 1&4 and 2&3 (sitting on the bike going left to right) Make sure of where the wires are going before cutting and saying"!!**&%^??" A wiring diagram will really help.

The sparkplug wires will need cutting and routing and it's not something to be rushed.

Hi Becker,

I'm no twin expert so help me out a bit. How many pickups or points sets does your bike have? Actually, I believe I may have just fingered it out. You have one coil with two high voltage ( secondary ) terminals, Right? If that's the case, just hook it up, there's no wrong polarity ( primary or secondary ).

You would be correct sir, just one set of points and only one coil. Sorry I just reread my first post and realized how unclear it was. What I really need to know is how you connect the sparkplug wires to the secondaries on the coil. Usually there is like a screw or something to screw the wires into but this coil just has like a port to shove a wire into and nothing to hold it in. So what gives??

Hi Becker, Please call me Bill.

At every auto parts store you can purchase connectors that resemble tiny finger splints. Strip off about 3/4"( about 2 CM for those of you who may be Imperially challenged ). Wrap the exposed lead around the splint and shove it over the end of the wire. Now push the whole thing into the secondary terminal.

That's it.

Good luck
