I never had the stock guages with my bike. I used an electric tach i had laying around the garage and in the garage it works fine but at the racetrack above 7000 rpm the needle bounces wildly to 12000 rpm down to 8000 rpm when im reving the bike up high.. which is often, since im roadracing it. ;)

im using stock coils, resistive caps and non resistive plugs. I run a total loss system now, but the bike did it when i had the charging system installed.

It is almost like there is no signal conditioning on the lead from the coil and there is alot of interference at high revs. There is something in the stock tach that prevents this.. Oddly my old YZF750SP had a good stock tach and when i grafted a race tach to it, it did the same thing (not the same tach as i have now).

Does anyone have any good ideas?
