I have been trying to get my KZ400 H1 started and I was having problems with spark. I tested the coil and it shows 3.2 ohms across the terminals and 14,200 ohms across the spark plug wires. I think this is within spec, but my question is can I now rule out the coil and move on to other possible problems or can there be something else wrong that I can't test for?? Also do I use the non resistor type spark plug boots or do I use the resistor type?? I want to buy new ones since these are shot. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It should work with either resistor or non resistor. The nons should give a bit more spark voltage.

A coil may be arcing internally from the high voltage which would not show up on your meter test.

FYI, I believe Z1 sells new coils for the twins for about $36 if you do need one.

A flaky condenser or points can cause a weak spark also.
