Bad flasher relay or bad connection? If it was a ground it wouldn't work at all work at all. Would it?
I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

If it is blinking consistently slow, I would guess relay.

If it is blinking intermittently, slowly, and especially dimly, I would check grounds.

I have seen an acid wash product for sparying on aluminum. It actually "cleans" it by dissolving the surface of the metal away which exposes the metal underneath which is not as oxidized and dull as the metal which used to be on the surface (but is now gone).

This kind of product has not gotten good reviews in the posts I have read.

YMMV
