nfester Topic Author Offline User Posts: 1 Thank you received: 0	ok so long story short i acquired an 81 kz550 through a family member, it wont start, if it wont crank how do i check if its getting spark ... or what do i do... im new to motorcycles so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

If it cranks over, use a timing light to see if there is spark on the plug leads. make sure the tank has clean gas in it. 1979 KZ-750 Twin

Spark can also be checked by removing a spark-plug and placing it on the head, while it is plugged in to a live plug wire. Once again, be sure that it is grounded to the head and plugged in in a way that you can see the electrodes.

Crank the motor over and watch the plug for spark between the electrodes.
