Hey all! About ready to start my KZ, was wondering how to get a replacement key. Got the bike without any key whatsoever. Can I take the ignition switch to a locksmith and get one made? Or the Kaw dealer? Or do I just need to buy a new lockset?

Thanks!

you can just take the seat lock or ignition in. they can just make one with or without the code.

What year and model bike do you have?
Add that info to your signature in the profile area.

The key code is usually beside the keyhole on the Ignition or seat lock. Some models are different though.

I can cut them by the number usually.
$10 for the first, and $5.50 each one after, plus mailing.

How about the lock on the steering column that locks the steering? Is that the same key?

I have not been able to get mine to work..:(

Can a key be made for that from numbers on the bike?

All the locks used the same key when new.
Try spraying some WD40 in the keyhole to free it up.
Some members here have had problems with their steering locks. Sometimes they don't want to unlock when used, possibly leaving you doing circles only!

Make sure it works well if your planning on using it when your away from home.
The steering locks don't offer a lot of theft protection as their supposed to be easy to break by a thief when forced.
