After about 40 hours of learning about fuel injection and the Megasquirt hardware/software and some wiring work we've got David's Z1 classic starting and idling on the Microsquirt today. Next step is to study the tuning manual thoroughly and take her to the dyno for tuning.

However, we've found one of the injectors to be flakey in tha t it's only flowing about 70% of what the other three are.

These five models use the same injector
KZ1000-G1 (Classic) (1980)
KZ1100-B1 (GPz) (1981)
KZ1100-B2 (GPz) (1982)
ZX1100-A1 (GPz) (1983)
ZX1100-A2 (GPz) (1984)

They appear to be Bosch parts but we're not sure about the part numbers...

Any leads to an inexpensive source for one of these is appreciated.

I've ordered a 2nd megasquirt to go on my 1100b2 :-)

A set of four GPz1100 injectors just sold on eBay for $10.50.

They ought to be showing up here any day now :)

Find someone with a 750 Turbo that has installed the 1100 throttle bodies, the 1100 injectors are smaller than the Turbo injectors, so the Turbo guys don't use them.

Don't you have like a 55gal drum full of those things by now? :-)

I'll post in the classifieds here. Surely someone has put carbs on a G or B1 and tosses the injectors in a box.

I have two sets of GPz750 Turbo throttle bodies, and they have the Turbo injectors in them so I have been searching for awhile now for a set of 1100 injectors cheap. Took me a year but finally got a set from eBay. Assuming they show up that is :(

hey Duck, do you have any pictures? Who's bike are you working on? I've been away from the forum for a while and it seems like a lot of new faces around.

I haven't been around a lot myself. Been hanging out with the social misfits at kawpen some but mostly on the sport bike and chopper forums. I've got a T100 chopper I'm trying to get some work in on. Also, most of running gear from a 78 Honda CB400A HondaMatic Hawk. Might weld up a hardtail out of scrap metal. Should be good for 70 MPH before getting into a wheezing fit. Also been screwing around with 2 x sidedraft Keihin 34mm carbs on a free honda prelude I got a couple of weeks ago. Cleaned them up but car has other problems.

KZ1000G belongs to a local guy, David. He has some pix. I'll try get and post. It's taking way longer than expected. It's one thing knowing how a ECU is supposed to work and all together another making it work :-)

Gonna see if I can't get it tuned reasonably this Friday.
1)make sure restriction that was added to MAP vacuum line did not drop the overall reading much. If so, adjust for it. If not, pull it out.
2)Adjust idle for max vacuum and appropriate temp-enrichment values.
3)Run data logger and make sure signals from sensors are stable.
4)Get on road and adjust VE tables for best 'pull'.

Wish we had a wideband O2 and a REAL load cell type dyno.

Hey Steel. If you're still reading this...what is the flow rate on those 750 turbo spitters?

245cc min I believe, but I'll scoot on over to 750turbo.com and check.

Just checked and according to Lorcan they are 23 lbs per hour, so 245cc per min would be about right.

Did this pan out? I was toying with the idea lately of doing a megasquirt install on a KZ, but I didn't know if anyone else had done it yet.

What? You haven't heard of Dave Sloan? He's world famous, some bike mag just did a article on his bike!

Dave's a member here and has been happy to answer questions and help others with their MegaSquirt conversions. I'm still working on the suspension on my KZ750E, but I'm almost done and may start on the motor this weekend. I have the MegaSquirt and all the parts, just not moving to fast right now.

I wonder how hard it would be to install this stuff on a GPZ750...
I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

GPz750 Turbo/1100 throttle bodies bolt right on, external fuel pumps are readily available, as are the sensors. Bolting the mechanical stuff on is easy, but apparently the tuning can be a little time consuming.

No different than installing it on a KZ750E (or a 650) I would guess :)
