Hey BT, I was wondering if you had one laying around and could measure the resistance on the coil... or anyone else who happens to have one.

The relay is the Bosch (Now Tyco?) 330-070 relay. I thought it should be somewhere around 100 to 150 ohms, but my memory is fuzzy.

Um... yes, I have a 3 of the Tyco ones, and a digital multimeter... but I don't know how to do what you're asking...
If you can tell me what to do, I'll do it...

thanks for the ultra-fast response. I hope it's not a big hassle... :)

Set the meter to resistance, and put the leads on the coil terminals of the relay while it is unconnected. That's pins 85 and 86. It doesn't matter which lead goes to which terminal. Then read the ohms on the meter. I expect between 100 and 200, but just want to be sure.

Also, if anyone happens to know, what is the minimum voltage required to get the Bosch relay to activate? My 12v relay from Radio Shack needs about 8v.

I've been searching google, but couldn't come up with a spec.

my cheap ebay, bosch "style" relay is 73.3 ohm on the coil. and it energizes at 6 volts.
thanks for giving me a reason to use my "new" 50 cent Goodwill 30 volt power supply :)

Thanks alot! 50 cents  , that's a sweet deal. I assume it's variable? Thanks again!

Okay, *if* I understand, I set my multimeter to "200" in the OHM section, and on the three relays I have next to me (not on the bike), they say 84.1, 84.5, 84.8.
