My kz440 is an electric start only and it just stopped working the other day. A week or two ago sometimes when I hit the starter button nothing would happen (wouldn't even try to start) then I would keep hitting it and it would start working again. Then yesterday, it wouldn't work at all. I pulled the trottle and starter button switch assembly, took it apart and everything looked fine. I even cleaned the two metal doodads where the button meets.

So I figured it was something with that wiring or the button or something but when I plugged in my spare throttle assmebly the same thing happened...nothing.

What else could this be? I can't ride my bike and I'm going crazy, please help.

Have you checked the main fuse? I had trouble with my kz400's kill switch which caused it to blow fuses. After two weeks of trying to figure it out, I spent four hours tracing all the electrical connections. Found the shrink tubing around one of the kill switch connections had worn where you couldn't see it unless you un-did the connection.

Very frustrating...I feel for you.

Would also check wiring and assure good connections from battery positive terminal to starter-relay and from starter-relay to starter-motor.

If not already known about, check out this site :)

Jumper the starter relay (two larger cables mounted to studs). Does the starter motor turn? If so your problem lies in the 'control' circuit. If not the the problem lies in the 'power' circuit.

Please advise,

Problem solved! Thanks guys

It was one of the battery grounds or something. I just hooked up the loose wire and all was well. Thanks again
