Could anyone help with the carb jet settings for an 81 SR 650 ie how many turns. They have just been cleaned and serviced and are currently on 1.5 turns. The Carbs have not yet been put back on the bike, and I am not sure if 1.5 turns will be OK.

One more question, some of the exauhst ports on the carbs had been filled, stuffed with some sort of wool and then bodged over. I was wondering why this was done, they are cleaned out now, so nI will see what difference it makes.

I have not idea what a carburetor exhaust port is... 1.5 turns out on mix screws will allow you to start the bike and then they should be adjusted before synchronizing. Adjust each in turn for max idle... you may have to turn each screw 1/2 to 1 turn in either direction for max idle. The pilot mixture screws each fit quite a bit different than the others.
