When I put the front end back together after the spill, I went for a 40 mile test drive and everything worked, but a week later I took off again and no speedo. It's electronic with a speed sensor driven by the front wheel, and wired back to one of the computers, I guess.
Does anyone know how to test the speed sensor? I don't know if I put something together out of spec or if it's just a coincidence...

Do you have a factory service manual? I would imagine that if there is a way to test it, they would tell you there.

I have one for the 1200 on pdf. The electrical seems right, but no specifics on testing the unit. I don't know if this one is a hall effect sensor, small generator, or something totally different.

I have a factory service manual in PDF. it's nearly 90 megs however. Wonder if I could email it?

there's a very well documented process for diagnosing the speedometer.

If it's too big, I wonder if it can be broken into sections? I downloaded mine a chapter at a time.

Now if only there was a fix for operator error! The wire was pinched at the steering head! That explains the 0.L reading... Thanks again, guys.
