Since I, along with many other old bike dweebs, order my batteries through the internet, I must find the acid elsewhere (as the batteries are shipped dry). In my area, the only place that carries bulk battery acid is O'Reilly's Auto Parts and it is in 6qt quantities. The good news is that it is inexpensive. However, it is more than I can use so if anyone else in the Houston area needs acid for their internet procured batteries, feel free to stop by and fill up. PM me. :)

Michael, That is surprising. In SA, TRAC Auto sells it by the quart. It is "behind the counter" and you gotta ask.

WG...no TRAC Auto in the greater Alvin area...neither Walmart, NTB, nor several other local battery outlets will sell acid w/out a battery to hold it:laugh: The quest for local battery acid turned into a minor hurdle...I suspect the increasing rarity of acid is due to the popularity of sealed batteries and liability issues.

Michael:
Kudos to you for your offer!
I'd have taken advantage of it if I lived close. Just bought a new battery for my Voyager from Walmart.

If you buy a battery in Walmart, it will come with a container of acid in the box. I was able to buy a battery from Advance Auto for my Voyager a few months back that had a hole in it for the idiot light probe. Was pleased because otherwise, would have to wire the probe hot to keep it from glowing all the time. That battery was sealed I think (can't recall for sure). I ALWAYS keep the Voyager on a battery tender as it tends to discharge quickly with the clock on all the time.

I did, and it did. I just thought that buying a battery on line, without acid would be cheaper, especially if there was a free souce of acid.
And WG, you're not kiddin' about Voyagers being hard on batteries. I think it's the clock that uses power all the time. I got a battery tender in my Christmas stocking.

This suggests that my local Walmarts will carry the batteries for my various bikes...none do...hence my ordering via the internet... :) If you try to special order anything through a Walmart, you'll get a story about contacting the headquarters to get them to OK it.

What battery do you use for your voyager? None that I have found at WM fit my 83 model, and my run around story is that it's a special order, only fits that bike.

Did end up with a 500cca lawn mower battery that fit in with minor finagling, though.

I think that Wallys didn't carry the correct battery for the Voyager hence the buy at Advance Auto. If I need a battery for the KZ, I used to buy them at Wallys but now that Z1Enterprises.com sells batteries, at a much better price, I just buy one from Jeff when I need it. That is how I found that Trac Auto sells battery acid in small containers.

I don't know the part number for the battery I bought, just went to the counter, told them what bike I had, and they pointed me to a battery that fit. My Voyager is a V-12. I think your '83 is a V-13.
