TOPIC:

To finish my build I need a wiring harness. For a little info, the motor is an 81 kz750 motor, but it has head and cams from a gpz(which most of you know have an electric tach, not cam driven. I was looking on gypsy-bay (e-bay!) I was wondering if I got a wiring harness from a gpz(any specific year?), if there is a place to plug in, or wire in the tach. If not, how does the tach on a gpz work. Or is there any way I can just use a kz wiring harness, yet use the electric tach without spending lots of $$$$$ for a dyna s 2000?

I don't know exactly what signal (voltage/waveform) the tach needs, but I do know the 83-85 GPz750 tach gets it's signal from the igniter.

Not real great with electronics, sorry. But does this mean there is a place where the tach connects in with the rest of the wiring. Like a plug-in type deal?

It's been awhile since I since I studied the schematic to help GPzInfested wire a GPz7540 igniter to his 650.

If I recall correctly, there is a blue wire in the harness that plugs into the tach and the other end goes to a multi pin (8 I think) connector that plugs into the igniter.

Are you using a GPz750 Tach? How about the igniter, GPz or KZ?

Well, bought a complete wiring harness from a 1983 gpz, and will prolly try to find a tach from a gpz too.
