Functionally very similar, cosmetically different. Also, the Accel kits cost more but they come with wires and connectors. The mounting holes on the Accels fit some KZ's better than others. They fit the 550 line pretty well, but the earlier 650 mounts are slightly different and need a little grinding to fit. (That is to mount the coils like the stock ones were mounted, without the clamp hardware.)

The ACCELS are as good as the dynas.i like them better simply because of the way the plug wires go on.

Anybody know the coil resistance for an 83 KZ650CSR? I read on another web site that a guy smoked his ignition system with the wrong coils.

That bike uses the early KZ electronic ignition. The stock coils should be around 2.5 ohms on the primary. You can use coils that are 2.5 ohm or higher. Standard 3-ohm Accels or Dynas should work well, (but not the "mini" coils, though). If the resistance on the coils is too low, you can smoke your ignition. If the resistance is too high, you may get a weaker spark.
