First, a couple things

I'm a brand new rider. I just started riding this past August.

I'm also pretty green when it comes to mechanical stuff. I don't have any interest in cars, but I'm a lot more interested doing my motorcycle stuff myself. I'll take it into the shop if I need to, obviously, but the simple things I'd like to do myself.

Anyway... I have a 1978 KZ650 (D?). My headlight is out. It stopped working two weeks ago.

There is no power to the lamp socket. I've traced it back to the fuses (got a wiring diagram), and the particular fuse has no power on either end. The wires run under the tank and look good, but I haven't taken the tank off to really check. I pulled apart the headlight switch, but the wiring is on the bottom of the unit, which appears to be inacessable.

To pull the whole switch off would appear to involve the throttle cables. Is that really the case? Any suggestions or tips? I'm going to do a bit a research, but this looked like a good forum to check with.

Thanks!

Jeff
