Ok, so I am trying to figure out a wiring issue with a 77 650B. For some reason, when I trace out the wiring on the diagram it doesnt show how poswer is actually getting to the tail light and speddo/tac lights. Am I really this dumb and cant find it or is something weird going on??

I followed the diagram where the Red and Blue wires make contact when you turn on the switch, whith the red wire going straigth to the tail light and the blue wire going to the dash lights. However, it doesnt show where their is actual power going to either of those two wires. On the switch diagram, when you turn the power on, the white(battery) makes contact with the brown(ignition) but it doesnt send power through the switch to the tail light or dash lights. However, when you turn the parking switch on, it sends power from the white wire(battery) to the red wire(taillight) and when I do that I get a tail light and my dash lights?

So, where does the power come from to power the tail light and dash lights when you turn the key on?

This is the way I read it going by the Clymer manual.
12v from battery red to red/white to 20a fuse.
Other end of 20a fuse has white wire to ignition switch.
Ignition switch when on switches power to brown wire.
Brown goes to headlight switch.
Switch when on transfers power to brown/white wire.
Brown/white to 10a fuse.
Other end of 10a fuse has blue/red wire which goes to the lights.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Ron,

Thanks for the info. I realized that the fuses are linked from the brown wire at the headlight switch. I didnt see that at first and when I figured it out and traced it down I found a REALLY odd thing. IF for some odd reason you have both lights from ither side of your dash lights burned out, you wont get a complete circuit and the tail light also goes out. I took one good one out of the speedo and put it on the tach side where they were BOTH burned out and bingo, I got lights again.

The Clymer for 1978 650 has some errors. I'm not sure if the 77 diagram has the same errors. But in case it does, here are the corrections I made.
