I am restoring a KZ750 Four Spectre model. This is a picture of the oil pan removed from the bike. As seen in the picture, the nut shown is the oil drain plug, Is this Correct? I need help identifying the purpose of the other smaller hole on the pan(to the right and without a nut/bolt). It seems to be threaded with signs of wear. What is this for? I appreciate any feedback.

I think that's a exhaust mount.

Ahhhh... This bike has 4-1 exhaust so the original was taken off. I believe this explains it. thanks...215

Yes, it's for mounting the exhaust manifold. The stock mufflers are clamped in place on the shaft drive models, so the extra support was added.

I think the L model 750's also use that mounting hole for the exhaust.

Yes, that manifold was perfect. It came with the 2 center pipes which I kept.
That's about the only part I've sold that I should have kept. doh.
A few weeks later, another one of those came up for sale & sold pretty cheap, but I declined to bid. double doh.
But at the time I had 3 very good exhaust systems.

You may be aware of this, but the stock Spectre muffler system was black. some sort of black chrome or something. ??? wiredgeorge over at another forum mentioned that he had some mufflers ceramic coated by some place in central Texas. not sure what color, but I'm pretty sure it can be done in black.

Stock exhaust manifold & oem mufflers. I'm pretty sure you can use the manifold from any KZ750 shaft or ZN700/750 shaft drive model. The ZN mufflers are slash cut & will probably work, but you may have to fab muffler brackets (easy) & check the left side center stand clearance. there's usually a recess in the LH mfflr. I would check to make sure the recess is located in the same spot.

Just for the fun of it, this is a picture of the bike in question that I am restoring back to original The original stock exhaust was replaced by the PO with a chrome 4-1 exhaust. It is louder than the original and I do not know if the carbs were re-jetted when the exchange happened. I would like put the bike back if I find an original exhaust system that is in good shape. I believe, however, that I'll have issues because the current header bolts look very, very rusty.
