Check your fuses carefully. Use a meter to test them or just replace them all with new ones, becasue they can look fine even when they fail. This is becasue the filament can break free from one metal end cap due to age and vibration. When this happens the filament does not burn through so it still looks fine even though one end no longer is connected. Ed

Check the fuses, replace all with known good ones if possible, also may need to clean your electrical contacts @ kill and other switches...

The first thing you need to do, though, is post a photo of the bike --- from the avatar it looks like it might be a nice one. :)

You got all the right advice so far and it will probably turn out to be something already mentioned.
Next step if your still stuck is to check as someone suggested your connections.
Remember the biggest area for connections is behind the headlight.
Also pull your tank and look for any places that wiring may have rubbed through especially if you find a popped fuse.
A lot of wear is also caused by the 30+ years of handle bar movement and the strain on the harness so broken wires can occur there over time.
I'll bet you find a popped fuse!
Good luck and let us know!
So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake.

Thank you all for your input. The culprit was the 20 amp fuse, it was fried. Replaced it bike has power and all systems go! I looked for wiring issue cannot find one. Turned the handle bars fully left and right new fuse still good. When I get more time I will remove tank and headlight to check all wiring. Also the plastic black fuse box doesn't seem very user friendly, does anyone else agree with me or understand how to get into it? It is surrounded by 3 unfriendly steel clips, am I missing something as far as ease of getting into?

The main fuse runs hot normally. I've already installed relays for the horn (2) and ignition.I plan on doing the lights too. I want to feed them with separate fuses to bypass the wimpy stock fuse.

Make sure you pack a couple spare 20amps off in ur jacket pocket or under the seat! (Until you trace down the issue, if there is one)

It sounds like a previous owner messed with it. To my knowledge it should be the same or very similar to the one on my KZ650-C1 (see image below). The fuse case just slips onto a tab on the bracket; no muss / no fuss, and it just snaps shut. It has no clips of any kind involved. Can you post a picture of yours? Ed
