Engine fitment?
12 Jul 2011 19:36
Hello, is any one aware if a kz 900 motor will fit in a 1982 kz 750 frame? I know the 1000's and the 900's are interchangable. The bigger bikes have a longer stroke so i think it might be to tall to fit. i appreciate any feed back!

That might give you a clue about the size of your project

From what I recently learned from another member here (Murphyau) the KZ750 frame is basically identical to a KZ650 frame. The KZ/Z1900 and KZ1000's on the other hand are an entirely different animal.
It's longer for starters, and the engine mounts are bolted to the frame in different locations, as to where the 650 and750's were welded to their frames.
I'm sure someone else here has the actual measurements, and will probably be posting them shortly.

Yes! It's been done plenty of times.
Z9/1000 and gpz11 are taller but will squeeze into the 650 and 750 frames.
You will have to make new motor mounts though and the cam cover will run very close to the bottom of the fuel tank.
